Review of the second order draft of the chapters and the first order draft of the summary for policymakers of the sustainable use of wild species assessment now live!

Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

With reference to notification EM/2021/05 (16 February 2021) I am pleased to announce the start of the external review of the second order draft of the chapters and the first order draft of the summary for policymakers of the assessment of the sustainable use of wild species, which is open from 16 April to 10 June 2021.

This second external review is addressed to governments and interested and qualified experts, including scientists, decision makers, practitioners and other knowledge holders. To ensure the highest scientific quality and policy relevance of this assessment, the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel is seeking the widest-possible participation from experts from all relevant disciplines and backgrounds. To ensure consistency with and continuity from the first external review, those who participated in the first review are particularly invited to send comments.

If you would like to participate as an expert reviewer in this external review, please follow these steps:

1. Register as user of the IPBES website (https://ipbes.net/user/register) if you have not already done so;
2. Register to review the draft assessment at https://ipbes.net/sustainable-use-wild-species-assessment/sod/registration
3. Once registered, you will receive an email providing confidential access to the draft assessment. Comments need to be submitted in English using the template available on the same webpage.

A dialogue meeting for IPBES national focal points and other Government representatives will be organized on 11 and 12 May 2021. Further details about the meeting will be sent directly to IPBES national focal points. In addition, a stakeholder webinar open for all registered reviewers will be held on 12 May 2021. You can register for the webinar when conducting step 2 above.
